Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Environment, Food and Agriculture has discussed a draft government platform.
At the meeting, a report was given warning that Mongolia will probably face a shortage in pure water in the future. The global warming affects Mongolia. In the last 60 years, an average air temperature upped by 1.8 degrees. If the environment is not protected, Mongolia will suffer greatly a deficit of pure water by the year 2070, according to researchers. The government platform reflects several issues concerning the state water policy.
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism said Ulaanbaatar will not face a shortage in pure water in the near future, because the capital consumes the first water resources. The second and third resources are preserved. As for the fourth resources, a Korean company had been granted a license on using 50 hectares of the area for golf court on the basin of these resources. The Ministry of Environment and Tourism has annulled the document and stopped activities.
The Ministry also proposes retaining water of some rivers flowing abroad for reserves.
